At the end of the exhibit is Ellamarie and Jackson Wooley’s huge “Reflective Sun” wall sculpture, which once graced the San Diego Civic Theatre. There’s a sad tale connected to its eventual removal but that does not diminish its brilliance, capping an exhibit worthy of multiple visits.

All That Authenticity May Be Getting Old - NYTimes.com

Unornamental aesthetic...
A deluge of vintage and artisanal products is now available online and through mass-market retailers. Has authenticity become just another fad?

I like the approach:
As they began furnishing their new house from scratch, they found themselves choosing pieces with clean, modern lines that “could be a backdrop for whatever we were interested in at the moment,” Mr. Siegel said. In other words, he said, “not trying to express your personality and your total individuality with every single thing in your house.”
You must click over to this link rich article in the NYTimes, link below. I feel the same way after furnishing a home with vintage, I am inspired for clean, minimal, with pops of color per the season.

Following are three of my favorite weekend things to do:
  1. The Spruce St. Bridge
  2. The Juniper-Front Community Garden (Video)
  3. Seasonal shopping at Urban Outfitters in Hillcrest.
Enjoy!

Towards Downtown

2220 Front Street, Juniper-Front Community Garden

2220 Front Street. The Juniper-Front Community Garden is perched on a hill on Front Street between Ivy and Juniper Street, and was established in 1981. The quarter block is divided into approximately sixty 10-by-12 foot plots. The Port Authority owns the land and rents the garden plots for approx. $100 per year. Juniper-Front Community Garden’s waiting list is long, often with prospective gardeners waiting a full year before an opening.
Matt Browne has a plot at the community garden and filmed this video.
